Internship
About
As a core component of the PSM program, internships allows students to gain a meaningful, hands-on work experience. This opportunity also provides mentoring from industry leaders along with the possibility of gaining a job through this experience.
The purpose of the internship is threefold:
- It allows the student to apply knowledge gained in their program to real-world problems in a professional setting;
- It acquaints the student with the specialized resources of various external organizations; and
- It assists the student in understanding the nature of employment activities in offices/agencies that employ professional mathematicians.

Barrett Industries Internship
Austin Wangler created a job site prediction model which predicted if an ongoing job was going to meet the profit margin. This internship lead to Austin being offering a full time position for Barrett Industries parent company, Colas USA.
TEU Database at Buffalo State
Zaid Newsome utilized project management principles to help organize the creation of a dashboard using AWS, Python, and Tableau to help visualize the Teach Education Unit data.
